How to Set Your Radio for CW on the Net

Setting up the IC-7300 and the IC-7610 for SSB (7.153 MHz) and CW (7.152.3 MHz) operation on the CanAm Net:
IC-7300:
- Make sure you are in VFO mode.
- Set the frequency to 7.153 MHz LSB in VFO A
- Switch to VFO B by quickly pressing (short press) of the A/B button
- Set the frequency to 7.152.3 CW in VFO B
You can now quickly switch back and forth between 7153 LSB and 7152.3 CW by pressing the A/B button
NOTE: When pressing the A/B button, be sure and just do a very short press – if you hold the button down for more than about 1 second, it will change both frequencies in VFO’s A and B to be the same.
IC-7610:
- On the left VFO screen, set the frequency to 7.153 MHz LSB
- Quickly press (short press) the CHANGE button to switch the information that was in the right VFO screen to the left screen
- Now, set the frequency to 7.152.3 MHz CW
You can now quickly switch back and forth between 7153 LSB and 7152.3 CW by pressing the CHANGE button
NOTE: When pressing the CHANGE button, be sure and just do a very short press – if you hold the button down for more than 1 second, it will change both frequencies both VFO’s to be the same.

- Press “Menu/Setup” button.
- Rotate Multi Knob to Menu #055 – CW AUTO MODE
- Press “Select”
- Rotate Multi Knob to “ON”
- Press “Enter”
- Rotate “Multi Knob” to Menu #059 – CW FREQ DISPLAY
- Press “Select”
- Rotate Multi Knob to “PITCH OFFSE”
- Press “Enter”
- Press “Menu/Setup” button to exit menu back to waterfall display.
- Set desired frequency on VFO A to whatever band you like for SSB.
- Press your paddle or key and watch display and read either 700hz up or 700hz down from your entered SSB frequency depending on what band you are on.
The FT-991A will automatically go up for USB and down for LSB on each band.

STORE MEMORY CHANNEL for SPLIT OPERATION
1: Ensure radio is on VFO-A. If not, press A/B button until VFO-A is displayed.
2: Dial up 7153 LSB
3: Press and hold A/B button for 2 seconds
4: Press A/B button quickly to change to VFO-B and dial up 7152.3 CW mode, VOX turned ON
5: Press A/B button to return to VFO-A
To store this setup in memory:
6: Press M.IN button, M.CH will display. Select a blank memory channel with the MULTI/CH switch.
7: Press M.IN again to store the memory
RECALL MEMORY FOR NET OPERATION
1: Press M/V button once. Rotate MULTI/CH switch to select the CanAm Net memory channel
2: Press M>V button once.
3: Press the SPLIT button so that the display shows 7153 LSB.
TO PERFORM A CW QSO on CanAm Net:
1: Press SPLIT Display shows LSB 7153 SPLIT 7152.3
2: VOX should be on and you now make your CW QSO
3: After your CW QSO, press SPLIT to return to SSB mode.
YAESU FT-891 SETUP FOR CW ON CanAm Net

SETUP FOR AUTO CW mode from SSB on VFO
1: Long press “F” key to get into MENU mode.
2: Set menu 07-06 CW AUTO MODE to ON
3: Set menu 07-07 CW BFO to AUTO
4: Short press “F” key to exit MENU mode
5: Short press “F” key repeatedly until CW SETTING menu is displayed.
6: Rotate the MULTI switch until the pointer is beside BK-IN
7: Press the MULTI switch to turn BK-IN to the ON position
8: Short press the A, B or C button to exit the CW SETTING menu
TO PERFORM A CW QSO on the CanAm net:
1: Use your key to send CW. When you are finished, the radio will return to LSB.
ALL OTHER RADIOS NOT ON THE LIST

4: Press A/B button to return to VFO-A
TO PERFORM A CW QSO on CanAm Net:
1: From VFO-A, enable SPLIT operation.
2: VOX should be on and you now make your CW QSO
3: After your CW QSO, disable SPLIT operation to return to SSB mode.
ALTERNATIVE METHOD
1: Dial up 7153 LSB on VFO-A
2: Dial up 7152.3 CW on VFO-B
3: Switch to VFO-B to make a CW contact
4: Switch back to VFO-A when done
